- (continued from previous page)terrace-fashion from the bottom of the gorge. On the Gleann na Ráth side of the Gap, and about 100 ft. from its brink is a smaller pass called Bealachán thro' which a casán short-cut passes.
Fionn is supposed to have thrown a rock about 10 ton wt., from Bealachán across Furkale Gap to the Foisteáin side - a distance of about 1/2 ml. as the crow flies. The stone now stands in a rather precarious position at the very top of Foisteán & is called An Chloch Bhán. In the townland of Cineál Mór is a huge flag-stone. That part of it that is exposed is about 20' x 40' & peeps out over a cliff near the sea.(continues on next page)
