- There are several old trades in this parish. The old people used make several useful things such as candles, thread nails and other things.
Spinning is very common in this parish. My grandmother Julia Hanley is very good at this trade. Sometimes she spins for some of the neighbours. She lives in Bawnard, about a mile north of this school. She has a big wheel resting on a stool. There is a piece of twine around it, and the spindle is in the opposite side of the wheel.
