   was made as relief work after the famine. Eight pence was the pay the labourers got daily. There were a good deal of fords on rivers[?] in olden times. One was situated at Áth na gCeannaidhthe. A good deal of the people coming from Cork sold meal and flour at Áth na gCeannaidhthe. Dances used to be held at cross roads each evening. A man died on the Old Kerry Road above Daniel Keeffe's house. This man died during the famine time. Everyone that passed by for some time put a stone to mark the place.
