    brideóg. Long ago no one in my district would close the door or unquench a fire. It is supposed that Brigid is wandering about with her companions on St Brigid's night. If she came to any house she would be able to warm herself at the fire. This custom is discontinued locally.
    St Patrick's Day:-
    Everyone wears the shamrock on this day. In olden times people used wear coloured crosses, which they made themselves. Long ago a large vessel full of porter was kept in every public house on St Patrick's day. It was called St Patricks Pot. Everyone who entered the public house should drink some amount out of the vessel in honour of Saint Patrick.
