  1. The forges in this district which still exist are Ballinamorrive forge and Rusheen forge. The forge at Rusheen is a very big one. It is lofted and there is glass in every window. It contains two fireplaces and it has a slate roof. It is situated near a stream. The smith who works in this forge is a Linehan man. Ballinamorrive forge is situated at cross roads. The smith of this forge is Mac Carthy.
    There is only one fire place in Ballinamorrive forge. A hand bellows and of the wheel type is used in each of these forges. The implements used in these forges are rasps, hammers, anvils, drills, buffers, sledges and pincers.
    In each forge donkies and horses are shod, and ploughs and harrows are repaired and wheels are banded. Shovels and spades
