  1. (continued from previous page)
Ye bachelors and maidens that stood the dreadful shock.
Of whirlwind and hailstone upon the Sgeilg Rock
Go warn all the youngsters that come within your view
At once to kiss in wedded bliss and not to be like you.
The Sgeilg Rock! The Sgeilg Rock gives youngsters such a fright
They cannot stop at any gap, but travelling all the night.
I travelled thro' Arabia and likewise Labrador.
And fougt many an engagement upon the Russian shore.
Yet in all the hazards I went thro' I ne'er got such a fright,
As I got upon the Sgeilg Rock on Shrove Tuesday night.
The Skeilg Rock! The Skeilg Rock, it is an awful place
Where all the old gizabos get the wrinkles on the face.
