- An old custom which still persists in this locality is known as (the) "Bringing in the May".The person who brought, or brings it in, should be up before Sunrise. He would proceed to the nearest wood and get a branch of holly, a branch of hazel, a branch of mountain ash, as well as a branch of common ash, and will bring them home with him. The person who brought them in used have a special song for the occasion which used to run as follows.Thugamair féin, is thugamair féin,
Is thugamair féin an Samhradh linn.
Thugamair linn é, is cé bhainfeadh dínne é?
Thugamair féin an Samhradh linn.
The night before is known in the locality as "Nettlesome" night. Groups of boys and girls used go round with nettles concealed on them and would give a "nettling" to any unwary person they would meet.
