- There are no stories about the leipreachan in this district except the ones which are got from books. But there is one story told locally about the mermaid. It is recorded in the first page of this book. The mermaid was able to talk. She had the head and body of a woman and the tail of a fish. When the promises were broken she then disappeared into the sea. A family by the name of Glavin was connected with the mermaid. They resided in a townland to the west of the parish.
