    They began to scream, and at last they very same mermaid swam up to them and took the two men who gave her bread, by the hands, and left the other man who refused, behind.
    She led both of them to the shore safely.
    The other man was drowned, because his body was found next day on the shore after it had been washed in, by the tide.
    This is how he was treated for his selfishness.
