- Long ago there were a great superstitious beliefs connected with certain days and months. It was considered unlucky to give away or lose money on Monday. It was considered unlucky to start a new job on that day also, and it was said that whatever way Monday was spent the rest of the week would be spent in the same manner. it was supposed unlucky to het the hair cut on Tuesday. It was considered unlucky to remove to a new house on Friday, or to draw blood by killing an animal, it was also considered unlucky to visit the sick, to get married, or to cut the hair. It was considered unlucky to get married in May. It was considered unlucky to remover to a new house in Lent or Advent. it was said to be unlucky to throw away ashes, paper, old shoes and such things on New Year's Day. It was supposed lucky to light a fire and to let the smoke float over the potato crop.
