   after him. Long ago there was a saint in Kilkeran called Saint Kieran, from whom the townland is named. He had a church there called "Cill Ciaráin". There is no trace of it to be seen now.

   The feast days of these saints has long ceased to be a big public holiday, and work is done as usual.

   Fairs. 9/9/38 Got from Mr. Denis Driscoll Knocknagehy, Clonakilty Farmer aged 50. Born and reared at home address. Fairs were held at Newmill, about two miles east of Rosscarbery, up to about twenty years ago, but since they are held in Rosscarbery, this town being more convenient. There is no field in
