- At a fort in Templemartin called Gortneerohan a firkin of gold is supposed to be hidden. The fort is about a half a mile from the famous Gurrane fort where twenty men spent two months looking for treasure during the Summer.
A certain man stole this firkin of gold from the Kinsale Bank and brought it on horse back to the fort called Gortneerohan. The soldiers followed him. The man changed the shoes on the horses legs and he turned the back to the front, so that the soldiers would not know which way he had gone.
