- Shops were very scarce in the olden times people used have to go to the nearest town to purchase. Buying and selling was not carried on in olden times but as the shops were getting plentiful it was carried on.
The people in this part of the country should go to Cork for what ever messages they would want. The farmer used to go to Cork with the first ferkin of butter himself and he would bring alot of messages with him and he would send the butter all the year to pay for it.
