  2. There are many forts in this district. There is one in the townland of Gowlane owned by Richard Sullivan. Another one in the same townland owned by Maurice Mac Carthy, and another one owned by Thomas Sexton.
    They are all circular in shape, and are fenced with earth and stones. There is an entrance
