- I live in the townland of Gurraneredmond, in the Parish of Donoughmore, and in the Barony of East Muskerry. There are seventeen families in the townland, and there are eighty people living in it. There are ten slate houses, and seven thatched houses in the townland.
Long ago there was a large wood in the townland and that is how it got Gurrane. There was a man living in it whose name was Redmond, and that is why it is called Gurraneredmond.
There are many old people in the townland over seventy years, and some of the very old people are ninty years.
Their names are Kate Healy, Maria Healy, Bridgid and Con Sullivan, and Mary and Michael Sexton Gurraneredmond Donoughmore.
In former years the houses were more numerous than they are of late years. In former years many people went to America from this townland. Some of the land is stony and more of it is good.(continues on next page)- Collector
