- There is one graveyard in my district, and that is in Kiskeam. There is no ruin in it because an old church that was there was falled to the ground, eight years ago. There are many trees growing in the graveyard. Over most of the graves headstones are erected, in honour of the person buried there. The oldest headstone was erected in the year 1870.
Unbaptised children were buried in forts. Up to now people are carried long distances to be buried with their relatives. There are ruins of an old church in Kilmeen and old tombs. There are crosses in both graveyards. A story is told of Kiskeam grave-yard. One night as four young men were coming to their homes, and passing by the grave-yard they heard the rosary, one saying it and the others answering, and six candles were lighting, where the old church was, and when all was over, they all disappeared one after another. The grave-yard is still in use, for it is a new one. Kilmeen is the oldest grave-yard in the parish, and there are four tombs in it.- Bailitheoir
