  1. My grandmother told me this old story about a field that was near hers. She said that fairies were in that field. There is a big red patch of earth of earth in that it is round.
It is said that fairies dance in the red patch. It is in Knockanrue. Big mushrooms grow around the red patch. It is said the pookapiles are umbrellas for the fairies.
In that district there are three big stones. It is said they were flung from mount Hillary. A giant that flung them.
One of the stones landed near Derrygallon and the other at the opposite side of the Brogeen river. Doipegalluín is the Irish for Derrygallon. There was a wood there but it was cut down 60 yrs ago.
It is said that it derived its name from the wood and the two stones on either side of it.
The third stone landed in Ballyhoobian about half a mile from Derrygallon. The marks of the giants fingers are supposed to be seen on that stone.
