  1. On St. Stephen's Day the boys around one place meet and go around gathering money to "bury the wren." Some of the boys play music and some of the boys around here sing this song:-
    "The wren, the wren,
    The king of all birds.
    St. Stephen's Day,
    He was caught in the furze.
    From bush to bush,
    From tree to tree,
    And at Drishane Castle,
    We broke his knee.
    So up with the kettle,
    And down with the pan,
    A penny or two pence,
    To bury the "wran"."
    On St Brigid's Night people put out a handkerchief
