  1. If a person falls from the wall it is a sign of very bad luck as it means that a person of the family is about to die.
    It is very unlucky to spill salt and if any should be spilt some should be thrown over the right shoulder.
    If one magpie is out on the road it is a sign of good luck but if two good luck. Three for a marriage four for a wake and five for a funeral.
    Mothers do not like to send their children to school on a Monday as they think it will bring bad luck to the child.
    People would not plough the part of a field where a fort is as fairies are supposed to inhabit it.
    On some old Irish houses, horseshoes are placed over the door to bring good luck.
