- Religious ObjectsIn olden times, it was very customary to use the blessed candle and holy water in the stalls. If anything was wrong with a cow after calving, the blessed candle was used. It was taken round her body while lighting making hte sign of the cross under and over her, and after this process, the cow was supposed to get better as vets were little known. If a cow or calf got a colic, the old men and women performed some ceremony this they called "cross na piasce". It was made by looping a cord and saying "in the name of The Father and of The Son and of the Holy Ghost".(continues on next page)
