  1. There was a great burning in this district long ago. The burning did a lot of harm to turf that was cut in a mountain. The most of the turf was stacked when the burning took place. One day aman who was stacking turf lit his pipe and threw away a match. The heather took fire and it could not be quenched and all the men had to run from the mountain and men who were drawing home turf had to run. The fire was seen from Mallow
