- There are alot of fairs held in this district now and so people do not have far to go to them.
The fairs are held at Mallow, Rathduff, and Castletownroche. Some years ago there was a fair held at Killavullen too. The fairs are mostly held in Towns now. If a person sold an animal they should pay a few pence toll.
People have to pay sixpence for horses, three pence for cattle, and twopence for pigs and sheep. If a person took cattle into the fair-field they should pay ninepence. How the buyers mark the cattle is to cut off some of the hair off the left flank. When animals are sold a few pence each is given as luck.- Collector
