    found a square box quite fresh and well bound, so they took it to a gentleman who lived near, and he advised them to put it back where they found and if they had the courage to go for it at night, that it was a box of gold, but those people were afraid to do so, they planted trees around the quarry. and never touched it afterwards.

  2. Spratt built a mansion in the above townland, but he had made a bargain with his landlord that he would pay no rent till the mansion was finished. It never got finished, hence no rent.
    He kept a pack of hounds as he was a keen sportsman as well as an eccentric.
