- In the farm where I live (Labbycally, Glanworth, Co Cork) there is a field called the "liss". This field got its name from an old Liss which stands by the side of it. We have another field which is called the "Hag's bed field". It got this name from a tree which is situated in it. It was said that the old Hag used to comb her hair under it. There is another field in our farm called the "house field". This field is situated near the house and that is the reason it got that name. We have another field which is called the pond field. It is long and narrow and there is a pond at one end of it. There is another field called the ten acre because it contains ten acres. The quarry field got its name from a quarry that is situated at the side of it.
