(continued from previous page)There is another field on the same farm which is known as the Hunting Gates field. It got this name because it was a great field for hunting long ago.On the farm of Mr D. Noonan at Cregg, Fermoy, Co Cork there is a field called the Lios Field. It got that name because there is a Lios in it.
Mr Noonan has another field called the Kiln Field. It is so called because there is a lime kiln in it.- On the farm of Mr E Kenneally Castlehyde Fermoy Co Cork there is a quarry which known as the Hangman's Quarry. This is how it got its name.
In olden times there were gates across the road between Fermoy and the village of Ballyhooley. A toll of one penny had to be paid(continues on next page)- Collector
