- Lord Barrymore was a very bad man. He lived in Castlelyons Castle. Co. Cork. He thought everybody should bow to him One time a company of soldiers from Fermoy were marching to Midleton and passed by the castle. it was the custom at that time for the soldiers to salute when passing Lord Barrymore. These failed to do so and Lord Barrymore was very angry. When the soldiers had gone some miles on their journey he sent a messenger after them commanding them to return to Castlelyons again and to salute him.
