- (continued from previous page)A little to the east of Bottlehill in the midst of the Carrignavar boys. The place is now called "Tory's Bed". His chief predatory stations were the old Mallow Road and the old Ballyhooly road but particularly Bottlehill, were seated on its summit like an eagle on a mountain. His eyes ranged over the country far and near watching for his prey or a foe and ever ready to fall upon the one or shun the other as soon as either of them appeared in right. Hearing that one Purdon who lived in Cork had a very swift horse he resolved to watch every opportunity to get it into his possession and being informed that the groom was to pass by the Mallow Road on a certain day with the horse. He determined to lie in wait for them near Whitechurch. It happened just as he was told as they were passing by. He sprung at them and attempted to seize the bridle, but the groom aware of his intention leant(continues on next page)
