Every good woman etc.- When I was a little girl (Máire Bean Uí Coileáin) my mother (R.I.P) who came from Achill Sound. Co. Mayo (a native Irish Speaker) was always careful to take a red coal from the fire and drop it into the water that had just washed feet. She too, always would make certain to "throw out" the same water.
