- In this parish there are three ruined castles,-, Blarney Castle, David's Castle and Castle Barrett. Blarney Castle is in the townland of Blarney, Barony of East Muskerry and County of Cork. David's Castle is in the town land of Ballymorrisheen, parish of Grenagh, Barony of the Barretts, and county of Cork. Castle Barrett is in the townland of Mona Parcel, Parish of Mourne Abbey, Barony of the Barretts and county of Cork. Mac Carthy Mór built Blarney Castle. Thomas Davis built David's Castle and Barretts built Castle Barrett.
Castle Barrett was attacked some years ago by Cromwell and his soldiers. They blew off the side of it with a shell. In ninteen eighteen there was a great fight around this castle called the Ballinamona Ambuish which was(continues on next page)- Collector
