- The unlucky days are,-, Mondays and Fridays. On Mondays and Fridays people used not like to begin house-building or changing from one house to another because there is an old saying that they would be going for the week.
The cross day of ther year occurs on Good Friday. If you planted potatoes on Good Friday it is said that they would grow well. People plant potatoes at the end of February or at the beginning of March. The oats and barley are sat between St Patrick's Day which falls on the seventeenth of March, and Lady's Day which falls on the twenty fifth of March. The wheat is sat in December.
It is said that if it started raining on Saturday it would be raining for the rest of the day. If it was raining on St. Swithin's Day it is said that it would be raining for forty days and if it was fine on that day it is that it would be dry for forty days.
When the corn is cut it is called "the harvest of the geese" because they are let into the stubble to pick up the grains. When it raining they say it is the fine weather for the ducks.- Bailitheoir
