the open. There is a fire in the forge for heating irons and there is a trough of water near the fire for cooling the horses shoes. There is a big square door leading into the forge. The forge is very black inside on account of the smoke from the big open fire. The fire place in the forge is a few feet from the ground and there is a big bellows for blowing the fire behind it.
