    Where O'Kelly's shop is now, in the village, the Stocks were. This was a sort of a platform and on top of it there was a seat and anyone who would do anything out of the way would be put sitting on top of the platform, with his legs chained to it so that he could not stir, and everyone would know what his offence was and he would sit there in disgrace.
