  1. Gerald Griffin, the poet and novelist(and a relative of my father's) was born at Fairy Lawn, Loughill. I am told it was from there my people came to Shangolden - Fairy Lawn being in the possession of the O'Donnell family for years.
    Gerald whose family were of the gentry became a monk and died at an early age.
    His compositions were in English.
