Ar an leathanach seo

  1. The wild birds in the district are the plover, the pheasant, the wild-geese, the cuckoo, the grouse, and the curlew.
The cuckoo comes in the end of April, and she goes away in the end of July.
The pheasant builds her nest in the middle of a field, especially in a meadow. She lays ten or eleven eggs. She sits on the eggs for three weeks. Her nest is made of mud and hair.
The curlew builds her nest in the mountain in a hole in the bank. She has a long clear whistle in fine weather, and she has a wild sharp whistle in bad weather.
The snipe builds her nest of withered grass and leaves. She lays five or six eggs. She sits on the eggs, for three weeks. The fowlers shoot the curlews and the snipe.
The swallows build their nests in the eaves of houses.
