- There was an old hedge school in Mondellihy, about two hundred years ago. The school was indoors. Mr. Daniel O'Sullivan was principal teacher. He lived in Feenagh. The teachers were paid by the childrens fathers. English, Geography, History, Arithmetic, Irish, and Catechism were taught. Writing was done on slate, by pencil. The desks were made of stones. They had a large slate for a blackboard.
