    through it, some of the rescuers being severely burned in this way. After a while a very stout lady, being taken out through this window, became wedged in it, so that she could not be taken out nor in; this finished all chances of further rescues.
    A young man (man), named Willie R. Ahern (Bob) who had been married five months previously, brought his wife to safety through the front door; he then returned to the blazing hall to rescue her mother and never came out again; neither did his mother-in-law. This was the same man who was taken as a hostage by the "Black and Tans" of Newcastle-West.
    A man, named Thomas Buckley, a National Teacher, though he could have saved himself, did not avail himself of the opportunity; he remained inside the blazing building, helping people, especially children, through the window. There are young women in Drumcollogher to-day, then children, who
