- Old Schools. There was a hedge school in Kilfinny and Mr. Heffernan taught there. He had the school in a field behind Tom Keogh's house. He was a poet and a teacher. he had a nephew living in Adare who did something wrong for which he was imprisoned. While he was in prison Mr. Heffernan composed this poem and sent it to Lord Dunraven.
"You noble lords and ladies fair,
The pride and joy of sweet Adare,
I hope you'll get my nephew out of jail,
And pity the tears of his forlorn mother.
For, God help her, she has got no other".As a result of this poem the nephew was released.Sgealoide - Miceal O'Pigoid.
