  1. People carried their corn in horses and carts to Limerick by road. A long journey from our locality. Robbers were plentiful in those days and the farmers used be in terror on their journey home for fear of being attacked by these highwaymen. They used leave home at about 2 oclock A.M. They used take bread to eat, with them often they slept soundly on the loads while the horses plodded away.
