- There are few farmer's house that home made quilts are not still in use.
The people long ago made them. The quilts are hand sewn and this is how they were made. The sheep's wool was sent to the nearest mill and was made into flannel. Some of the flannel was dyed and more of it left in the natural shade of the wool. The woman of the house cut the amount of flannel needed for a double sized bed.
