    And when the summers glory,
    Gleamed o'er ripening corn and new mown hay,
    How oft with friends of youth,
    I dreamed of life all bright as a summer day.

    When Autumn's banner crimson fringed,
    O'er beauteous Beech Mount floated high,
    When woods and dells were faintly tinged,
    With tints that told of Winter nigh.

    To me best season of the year with,
    Men and hounds for hunting keen,
    And many a run I've followed far,
    By Foynes, Kilcosgriff, Ballysteen.

    Oh golden days of early youth,
    When all the world was fresh and fair,
    When hearts were turned to love and truth,
    And hope, bright hope was everywhere.

    But swift as seasons change the sence,
    Have sorrows changed my happy lot
