- In the locality it is regarded that when there is a mackeral colour in the sky, it is going to rain. Also by the moon when it sits on its back, or a bright sun which is called a watery sun. When a breeze blows from Curlew-hill, which is about three miles west of Askeaton, also rain, or when a lot of colours are seen in the rain-bow.
