this place is called "Bearna Dearg". It is a glen between hills, and probably gets the name "Dearg" because of the red colour of the ferns etc on the slopes in the autumn.

    Bearna na Gaoithe:-
A Glen near the "Palladin" village of Ballyorgan is known as Bearna na Gaoithe. It lies between Thomastown Hill and Clovers in the parish of Darragh County Limerick.
