  1. In this parish as in most parishes throughout Ireland, many feasts are observed in a special manner.
    On St. Stephen's Day boys gather together, and go from house to house with a holey bush decorated with gaily coloured ribbons, singing the Wren-song.
    The "wran" the "wran" the king of all birds
    St. Stephen's day he was caught in the furze,
    Altho' he is little his family's great.
    Up here landlady and give us a "trate"
    Up with the kettle and down with the pan,
    Give us our answer and let us begone.
    On the eve of St. Brigid's Day many people put out on a bush strips of cloth, (done during the night). Those strips are carefully preserved and are supposed to cure headache. They are tied tightly round the head of the sufferer.
    On St. Patrick's Day as is the custom with Irish people throughout the world
