  1. People in this district usually get married during Shrove or on St. Patrick's Day, the latter day being used by people who cannot make up their minds in time to get married before the end of Shrove, the last day of this period being Shrove Tuesday.
    It is considered unlucky to get married during the months of May, August, September, and October or on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. Wednesday is considered the luckiest day of all.
