- My mother told me a story about the well where we get water. It is on the roadside between my house and a neighbour's. In years gone by the well was in a field about three hundred yards from the road. One day a soldier's wife was passing and she stopped and went in and washed her baby in the well. Next morning the well was removed to the roadside where it remains to this day. From which the neighbours get water.
