    ago, they were found by a man near the abbey. It is said and generally believed that a man lived in the district whose name was Givens. He was known by several still alive. In those days, it was customary for one member of the house-hold to remain at home from Mass on a Sunday, to house-keep there being only one Mass said in every parish. Now it happened that this Sunday Mr. Givens was at home and it was his habit when he would hear the Mass bell ringing, to kneel down and say his Rosary. This particular Sunday, while he was saying his prayers, a figure in a cowl appeared in the doorway and beckoned to him. Givens first thought was, that the devil had come to tempt him from saying his prayers. So he said to himself, that he would not
