- (continued from previous page)Married in brown you will live in the town
Married in yellow you will be ashamed of your fellow
Married in blue he will always be true.,
And the bride who married in May will live to rue the day.
On the day of the marriage there is a feast held at the house of the bride. Then the couple go on the honeymoon and when they return there is another dance held at the house of the bridegroom. The neighbours come in to welcome the bride to her new home and wish her joy. - We were coursing in the neighbourhood of Lord Dunraven's estate in Adare with our beautiful greyhound - a hound that could catch the swallows for you! We lost him and to our sorrow and anger we heard next day that he had been put to death by Lord Dunraven's game-keeper. There was a young priest with us who loved the dog and I remember him well saying when he heard the news:
"Mo léir! Mo léir!
You'll see Adare
Without an heir or a hare! And sure enough his prophecy has come true.
