  2. Lord Dunraven - Without an Heir

    We were coursing in the neighbourhood of Lord Dunraven's estate in Adare with our beautiful greyhound - a hound that could catch the swallows for you! We lost him and to our sorrow and anger we heard next day that he had been put to death by Lord Dunraven's game-keeper. There was a young priest with us who loved the dog and I remember him well saying when he heard the news:
    "Mo léir! Mo léir!
    You'll see Adare
    Without an heir or a hare!
    And sure enough his prophecy has come true.
