- Long ago there lived in the Silvermines a man who used to rear great race-horses and (everything) everybody used buy them because they were always sure to win in whatever race they ran. So you may be sure that this man became very rich.
He had one great torment. He could never get a comb strong enough to comb the horses. Every comb he would buy, it always broke. He didn't know what he would do, because he would have to buy a new comb for every horse, and if that continued he would soon be a poor man.
One day as he was walking along the road, he saw a fine strong comb lying on the road. He picked it up, and said it would do to comb his horses. He went home and combed the horses and they all looked nice.
That night when he was in bed a woman came to the window and started to cry. He did not know what she wanted, and he as too much frightened to ask her. Next day he thought it might be the "bean-sidhe" was in it and that said that it might be her comb he found(continues on next page)- Collector
