    they had only small gardens, and they were occupied with blighted potatoes.
    The people used eat porridge made from meal.
    There is a story told about the famine. There was a very old man living in a small little house in Lahorna. He was very rich, and was supposed to have a machine for grinding corn into flour. He used make bread out of the bread.
    One day he said he would make a basket full of bread for all the children around him. When he had it made he called all the children together and said there was a loaf of bread for each one of them in the basket. He had one of the loafs made smaller than the other so that the last one was like a bun.
